Race Report – FLINDERS P.S
Thursday 2nd August 2007

Considering how bad the weather was during the day, you wouldn’t have thought that 61 runners and 5 walkers would turn up for the 5.84km run at Flinders P.S. Luckily the weather turned out to be quite pleasant and some good times were evident despite some taking it easy as they were freshening up for the Sandown Relays on Saturday.

The last time this course was run was back in May. Brad Bourne made the biggest improvement. Back in May he ran 29.29, and tonight he ran 25.36. Another was Bruce Salisbury, 26.57, and this week 24.54. Maybe his time was quicker because he was chasing Sandra Timmer-Arends who set a solid pace the first lap, or maybe he is just getting faster.

This was a Championship Points Race which was won by Greg Semmler (22.48). In second place was Bruce Salsibury (24.54) and third was Daniel Sinclair (23.03). Lisa Luckie came in at fourth (27.10), followed by the ever improving Shane Pettingill (22.17), and rounding off sixth place was Andrea Henderson. The handicapper hasn’t informed me of the updated leader board, so you will all have to stay tune.

Fastest times were Darrel Cross (22.12), Shane Pettingill (22.17) and Rob Preston (22.43). Interesting to note, that Darrel and Shane come in the same order last time this course was run and a relatively new runner took third place tonight. Among the female runners, Katherine Ewels (23.31) was the fastest, followed by a past runner in Delwyn Hewitt (23.49) and in third Lauren Isles (25.26).

Once again, 3 new runners turned up to run. They were Aaron Bryce, Neil Donoghue and Jason Wood. A big welcome to you all and hope we continue to see you in further runs.
Walkers were Margaret Salisbury, Carol Summersgill, Gillian and Bill Vander Brand and Rebecca Robjant.
