Cold conditions enticed 46 runners and 5 walkers to run the 5.01km course at St Gabriel’s Primary School. This course always proves difficult to run fast times for most runners, but looking at tonight’s run, Steve and Sam Quirk ran extremely well. Something else to note; most of the 46 runners broke the 25 minute barrier. Everyone will have to start watching their backs.

First over the line was Claire Issell who ran a P.B on this course from her time back in May. Back in May she ran 27.11 and tonight she ran 24.11. She finished well in front of second place; Donna Marino who ran 24.54. Coming third over the line was Ian Heafield who also ran a P.B on the same course back in May. Last time he ran 25.33 and tonight he ran 24.56.

Fastest runner was Steve and he ran 17.26, with his eldest son Sam not too far behind; 17.35. Third fastest was Darrel Cross (17.59), with Shane Pettingill closing in (18.05).  Now Shane is a runner who is on the rise. Back in May he ran 18.41 and tonight he ran 36 seconds quicker. Obviously the AV races are making him a runner to watch for in the coming months. Another notable runner who ran a better time this time around was Brad Bourne. Before he ran 22.55 and tonight he ran 21.44.

A great contest amongst the women was evident in tonight’s run. Rachel Massaro emerged as the fastest and ran 21.58. Close behind was another emerging runner of the name, Anna Cardillo. She is running awesome times and is not too far behind her fiancé. She ran 22.07, followed by the dynamic duo of Jenny Northe and Bianca Craddock, who tied in a time of 22.14.
We welcome Ben Bailey, Bruce and Marg’s son in law and Georgia Shaw, a previous club member.
Walkers were Rebecca Rosack, Carol Summersgill, Margaret Salisbury, Kevin Piercy and Mick Beek.
