Last Thursday Nights Race Report by Paula Lucas.

Quite a good night for running. Wet but not too cold. As the first group stood at the starting line I asked Bruce where we were going tonight- the response was not very helpful- “follow the arrows!!” Good one Bruce.
As we started off I tried to keep Tanya in my sights and thankfully I did for the first lap otherwise I would have taken a wrong turn. As I went past Carol & Margaret I called out “is this 3 laps?”  Yes Carol answered and I cursed because I had gone too slowly on the first lap 8:52 as I thought it was the small loop, big loop run.         Unfortunately so did Marissa and she kept running straight ahead about 100m but luckily was called back by Kathryn and Anna. Kate who was following Marissa saw the arrows but didn’t know if Marissa was doing a bit extra or not so didn’t call her back. By this stage I had lost sight of Tanya and John who were having a great run but

I wasn’t alone for long as the 6:00 P.M. group swallowed me up and spat me out like I was standing still. I tried to push a bit harder in the second lap and looked at my watch 17:29. I knew I had blown any chance of getting into the 25 minute bracket but I pushed anyway. Anna & Kathryn were behind me encouraging me to go harder- thanks I think and Anna was upfront of me daring me to catch her- I couldn’t.
In the end I did my second fastest time on the road so I guess I should be pleased- but that elusive 25 minute bracket is driving me nuts- but I will keep trying.
Thanks Paula.
