With another grueling run that has proven popular with many members, 58 runners and 8 walkers fronted up at the 5km Scales Road run which was also another Championship race. With the weather being ideal for running, it was a difficult course for fast times. Only 8 runners broke 20 minutes, which proves the course is pretty tough with a steep finish. First to cross the line in a time of 21.02, was Daniel Metcalf, followed by Keith Tomholt (19.40), Eric Semmler (28.14), Leanne Keating (22.46) and Ben McLean (21.48).

Those starting at their correct handicap time, will be dealt with severely by the Handicapper, even the Handicapper himself. Daniel Metcalf would have received maximum points, but he is not a member. Therefore Eric Semmler received them, followed by Ian Healfield (24.49), Peter Deguara (21.51), Steve Zyhajilo (25.05) and Todd Houghton (23.11).

With the absence of John MacKenzie and Darrel Cross, Shane Pettingill has enjoyed taking the fastest times honours for the past few weeks. With his preparation for the 10km Zatopek race held early December, Shane recorded a reasonable time of 18.07.  Fifty seconds behind was Nick Schilling (18.57) who is showing signs of running into some good form. In third place was Richard Comber (19.13) who just completed Four Peaks a few days ago. In fourth was Nick MacCredie (19.19) followed by Daniel Sinclair (19.21). Deb Piercy was the fastest female, recording a time of (21.41), followed Lisa Luckie (22.18) and Anna Cardillo (22.20). Tanya Whitehead (22.25) wasn’t too far behind.
We welcome Michelle Crosby. Hopefully she will return after turning up to one of the more difficult courses.
