Summer Series 2007/08 Race 6 held on 25/09/07
With muggy conditions confronting 60 runners and 5 walkers, some fast times were recorded for the 5.11km course around the surrounds of the Railway Reserve. This run was not a Championship race so no points were awarded, but the handicapper was sure to re-handicap those who finished near the top. Based on handicaps, Jason Wood finished first with a time of 27.36, followed by Duncan Orr (21.56), Brianna Lowden (30.58), Steve Eagle (29.08) and Fay Tomholt (29.16). It is good to see the likes of Brianna and Fay improving their times and featuring in the top five positions.
First over the line was Jason Wood (27.36), followed by new runner Maddy Wood (21.42), new runner Daniel Metcalf (22.48), Duncan Orr and another new runner Ann Maloney (26.57).
Darrel Cross (18.02) was once again the fastest runner by 30 seconds from Shane Pettiingill (18.29), followed in by Greg Semmler (18.51), Tim Northe (19.39) and Daniel Sinclair (19.52). It is great to see some young chargers featuring in the top five places and will sure try to topple the older brigade in the near future. With the absence of Kathryn who was competing in Canberra, Sandra Timmer-Arends recorded the fastest time of 21.07. In second place was Melissa Jones (21.29), followed by Deb Piercy (21.37) and Lauren isles (21.50) not too far behind.
