Summer Series 2007/08 Race 10 held on date 22 Nov

With another difficult course to contend with at Wirilda Park, it seemed that many runners decided not to show up. But for those 39 runners and 8 walkers that turned up, they managed the tough 6km terrain and came back down the steep hill in one piece. Once again there were plenty of flies and mosquitoes to keep the spectators entertained.

First over the line in this week’s non Championship race was new runner, Darren Wilkins. He finished by more than a minute to the second place getter, Michael Giddens. Darren recorded a time of 28.54 and Michael, 33.38. Third over the line was Darrel Cross (22.45) who ran the fastest time also. Then followed Rick Mann (31.23), and another new runner, Daniel Hahn (30.31). 

As mentioned, Darrel recorded the fastest time, with John MacKenzie not too far behind (22.55). Third fastest was Greg Semmler (27.22), followed by Nick MacCreadie (27.22) and Morgan Tucker (27.31). With many girls doing Sussan’s on the weekend, many of them chose not to turn up and for those who did took it very easy and didn’t cross the line. Kathryn Ewels was again the fastest and recorded the 6th fastest time overall. Her time was an impressive 27.39. In second was Sue Elsdon (33.01), followed by new runner Paula Pettingill (34.02), Anne Johnson (35.14) and Emma Haylock (35.36).
We welcome 5 new runners, Darren Wilkins, Daniel Hahn, former Traralgon Harrier’s coach, Laurie Edmonstone who now resides in Echuca, Paula Pettingill (former Paula Lucas) and Noel Fenn
A reminder again that all runners MUST be registered with the club; otherwise you will miss out on obtaining championship points and therefore not being eligible to become the Summer Champion.
Walkers were: Gillian and Bill Vander Brand, Jenny Comber, Rebecca Robjant, Sue Evans, Chris Sinclair, Rick Sinclair and Margaret Salisbury.
