Summer Series 2007/08 Race 10 held on date 22nd Nov
Race Report – COCHRANES ROAD
63 runners and 7 walkers were greeted by plenty of mosquitoes and one large dead wombat at last Thursday night’s run at Cochranes Road. Again this was another Championship race with Leigh Peterson (25.04) taking out the maximum points. In second place was Daniel Metcalf (24.26), followed by Greg Semmler (22.29), Anna Cardillo (26.44) and Roger Maximiw (23.55).
The Cochranes Road course is considered by most a quite difficult run with a very long up hill and a pretty steep and ruggered downhill section. With several trees laying across the track it proved even more of a challenging course.
We welcome back John MacKenzie who recorded the fastest time on the 5.57km course. His time was 22.01 with Steve Quirk (22.09) not too far behind. Third fastest was Greg Semmler (22.22), followed by Kathryn Ewels (23.06), Nick MacCreadie (23.30) and Daniel Sinclair (23.38). Amongst the women it was once again, speedster, Kathryn Ewels who took out the fastest female time. In second place was Melissa Jones (25.41), Deb Piercy (26.16), with Anna Cardillo and Leanne Keating coming in with the same time (26.44).
We welcome new runner, Stephanie Panther. She certainly had a good initiation to the Harriers. We hope this doesn’t deter her from future runs. Unfortunately 2 runners failed to hand their numbers in last week. These two numbers are 25 and 51.
A reminder again that all runners MUST be registered with the club; otherwise you will miss out on obtaining championship points and therefore not being eligible to become the Summer Champion.
Walkers were: Margaret Salisbury, Carol Summersgill, Sue Evans, Jenny Comber, Gillian and Bill Vander Brand and Rebecca Robjant.
