Sun 26th Jul 2009 Swaggy Memorial 6k
An Icy morning brought out 35 keen athletes to compete in this years Swaggy Run. A new course at Fitzgibbons Lane, Tyers was being tested for the first time, the change was made to get away from the busy streets of Traralgon, and to create something a little more challenging. As most runners found out, Challenging was an understatement, for it incorporated most steep hills in the area, and not just uphill.
The course was well marked, but as usual, someone got lost, actually there were three, Madelon Lane (ran 14+ km), Liz Kenny (21km), and Tanya Whitehead (21km). I think Liz is now confident she could complete a Half Marathon. Richard Comber managed to take a tumble down one of the steep hills and suffered grazes and bruises to most of his body, but still managed to finish in good time. Other than those incidents most runners found it to be a painfully enjoyable race.
Well done to all who competed.
