Mal Grimmett and Shannon Barr win Victorian 6-Hour and 50km Track Titles on Sunday 7th November 2004 at Newborough.

Mother Dawn Parris wins from daughter Leah in the feamle 6-hour event.

Held in wet windy conditions Tri-Athlete Shannon Barr and Australian 100km rep Mal Grimmett dominated from the start. After running close together for the first 35km Shannon broke clear to win the 50km title from Mal. Mal continued on to take out the 6-hour title after Shannon completed the 50km distance and retired for the day. Conditions were tough and Mal just missed passing the 70km mark. After 6-hours in tough track running conditions Mal recorded 69:902km. Second with a consistent performance was Trevor Marsh with 65:091km. The ever-reliable Kelvin Marshall chipped in with 63.102km to take out third in the 6-hour event. Club president Ken Lancaster put in a great performance to finish 4 th. Another local Mark Peek did a great job in his first Ultra to complete 54.866km and finish 5 th. It is only 19 months ago Mark failed to finish a 10km event on the track. In the females a great battle loomed between Dawn Parris, daughter Leah Parris and last year winner Sandra Howorth. Dawn took the title from daughter Leah. Sandra walked all the way and set herself a new P/B for walking 6-hours on the track. Another walker Brian Glover who was turning 62 the next day covered 50.287km. Stan Miskin who turns 80 soon covered 38.350km in the 6-hours. In the relay the open team Sandra’s Taem (Sandra Timmer-Arends, Dan Kirby, Matthew Franke, Matthew Mullens and Roger Maximiw) won from the Young Guns (Adrian Mastermna-Smith, Jay Masterman-Smith, Jade Masterman-Smith, David Embelton and Steve Mann) and the Girls Team (Lee Graham, Kim Essex, Ros Nicolson, Nicole Morrison and Deb Piercy)
